Where you are in the transition
Perimenopause is a progesterone story before it’s an oestrogen one, which is why the early years look like sleep, mood and cycle change rather than flushes. I map where you are in the transition using your cycle pattern and symptoms, check the thyroid and iron picture that so often tangles into it, and treat the years you’re actually in rather than the menopause you haven’t reached.
Support for the years you’re in
Support may include herbal medicine with genuine evidence in this transition, nutrients for sleep and nervous system resilience, and practical work on the blood sugar and stress load that amplify every perimenopausal symptom. If MHT is part of your picture or something you’re considering, naturopathic care sits comfortably alongside it and alongside your GP.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if it’s perimenopause?
From your late thirties, changes in cycle length and flow, sleep, mood and temperature regulation are the most reliable early signs, often years before flushes. Hormone blood tests fluctuate too much in this phase to rule perimenopause in or out on their own, which is why your pattern over time is the better diagnostic story.
Can I do naturopathy and MHT together?
Yes. Naturopathic care supports sleep, stress physiology, gut and liver clearance and general resilience alongside menopausal hormone therapy, and I’ll coordinate with your prescribing GP with your consent.
Is it too early to get support in my late 30s?
No, and early is genuinely the best time. The women who navigate this transition most comfortably are usually the ones who started supporting sleep, cycles and stress physiology in the early years rather than the late ones.
